Body condition: Built from a Vulcan brass kit to a reasonable standard. The frame is "square" although the compensation on the centre drive wheels is "sticky" - I noticed this because after I picked the loco up and the wheels hung down, they were reluctant to sit back evenly on the track when it was placed back down and they require adjustment by hand before they all sit square on the track. This doesn't seem to affect the running. The loco body itself does not sit square on the frame and is off by around 2 to 3 degrees, which is only noticiable when looking at the loco head on from track height. Painting is reasonable. Fireman is loose in the box. Wheels are finescale. No instructions

Provenance: We source collections of good quality rolling stock from specialist auction houses around the country. This particular model came from a collection of ex-shop stock.

Motion: It runs smoothly at all speeds and the motor pulls a low healthy amperage under load. There is a low clicking noise in forward motion, but not in reverse. It has a can motor and a brass gear box in good condition. Please see the video to hear the clicking. Access to the motor seems to be possible only if you remove a small part of the rear footplate...although I may be mistaken and it may be simpler

Box: Plain heavy card box
